PR Pros Teach SJSU Students What “Real World PR” is in Silicon Valley at PR Day 2013

Tomorrow, May 1, I go back to school.  I’m headed back to my alma mater, San Jose State University, as a guest speaker on high-tech PR for “PR Day 2013, Real World: Silicon Valley.”  And, I can’t wait to see what the next generation of PR students will be like.

This is the 9th annual event put on by PR students at SJSU in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, and overseen by teacher Chris DiSalvo. The Speaker Chairperson, Bodil Petersen, said “PR Day provides students with a day full of helpful information from public relations professionals and a greater understanding of the various careers in the field.”

There is a guest speaker at lunch, Jon Iwata, followed by the panel sessions and a job/internship fair at the end.

Panels:

1)  “Keeping Up With Tech” -a panel highlighting technology and public relations practitioners. (This is the panel that I will be speaking on.)

2)  “PR’s Got Talent” -a panel consisting of sports, entertainment and public relations practitioners

3)  “Big Brother: Corporate vs. Agency” -a mixed panel of public relations practitioners
